From this quantity is to be deducted the unsold stock held by foreign importers the 31st ultimo, viz. 2000 Chests or 2,300 piculs. Thus there appears a final balance of 20,001 Chests, or 21,990 piculs which must have been exported by native crafts to the consuming ports, during the said period of two years; consequently that quantity must have been imported into such places, which, though not open to foreigners, are as much under the rigid government of mandarins as the treaty ports.
